BAGUIO CITY, March 28 – The number of confirmed Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in the Cordillera drastically increased to 14 following the arrival of confirmatory test results of previously pending samples that were earlier transmitted to the Manila-based Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Based on the latest advisory of the Cordillera Office of the health department, Baguio accounted for the most number of confirmed COVID cases with 10 followed by Aba and Benguet with 2 confirmed COVID cases each.
The confirmed COVID cases in Baguio include a 61-year old female from Italy, a 52-year old female from Metro Manila, a 23-year old male from Metro Manila, a 70-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year male who had close contact with a positive COVID case, a 73-year old female from Metro Manila, a 49-year old male from Metro Manila, a 31-year old male from Metro Manila and a 52-year old male who was said to have local transmission of the virus.
In Abra, the confirmed COVID cases include a 39 year old male from the United Arab Emirates and a 49-yyear old male who had contact with a positive case but are all in stable condition while the confirmed cases in Benguet include a 34-year old female who came from abroad and a 6-year old female who came from the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON) Region.
Of the 310 persons under investigation (PUIs) in the region, 143 tested negative, 14 tested positive while there are 23 individuals with pending test results.
Further, 163 PUIs are under home quarantine, 74 individuals were discharged while 74 others are still admitted in health facilities.
Baguio City still had the highest number of PUIs with 106 where 32 are confined in hospitals, 30 are in home quarantine and 42 were discharged; Benguet followed with 58 PUIs where 16 re still in hospital, 28 are in home quarantine and 14 were already discharged; Apayao had 53 PIs where 14 are confined in hospitals, 38 are in home quarantine and 1 was discharged; Kalinga had 35 PUIs where 4 are confined in hospitals, 30 are undergoing home quarantine and 1 was discharged; Mountain Province had also 35 PUIs where 6 are in confined in hospitals, 23 are undergoing hoe quarantine and 6 have been discharged Abra had 17 PUIs where there were no individuals who were hospitalized, 8 are still undergoing home quarantine and 9 were discharged and Ifugao had 7 PUIs where there was no person hospitalized, 6 are now undergoing home quarantine and 1 was discharged.
