TABUK CITY, Kalinga – As part of disaster mitigation around the thoroughfares in the city, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), started pruning dangerous branches at Barangays Dagupan Centro and Dagupan Weste.
According to CDRRM Officer Christian Luyaben, the pruning is part of their ‘Task Force Clean and Green’.
“Iti rason na daytoy panagpukan is to remove road hazards nga makaited iti disgrasya,” he said.
Exposed branches could sever power lines and fall on top of roofs and other structures, according to the CDRRM Officer, in addition to causing automobile accidents.
“Haan lang nga highways gamin, mabalin ngay matupakan schools, fences kada bab-balay,” he said.
Luyaben also said that the pruning is part of the beautification of the city.
“Parte met lang ti beautification dayta ta haan nga naka al-alas isu ag-prune da ngay. To maintain the aesthetic view of the city,” he said.
Apart from pruning, CDRRMO staff also cleaned the surrounding region. Aside from Dagupan, Luyaben stated that the pruning will continue on other important thoroughfares around the city.
He further stated that this will help ensure safety especially when the typhoon season comes along. “Agpruning tayon to be disaster safe, haan tayo lang ammo no anya nga bagyo ti sumangpet,” he said.
Luyaben assured that the pruning of dangerous branches along major thoroughfares and streets will be a year-round activity.
