TABUK CITY, Kalinga- – The City Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) launched today the Deposit for Couples Enrichment (DCE), a program that promotes thrift and savings mobilization.
Project Development Officer Engr. Ryan Jose explained that the DCE, which was officially launched at the Ipasil Credit Cooperative (ICC), was a strategy used by cooperatives to recruit members especially married individuals.
He added that the program, which also involves the City Population Development Office (PopDev), is initiated by the District II Team of CCEDO and other partner offices which have their particular functions to perform.
For the CCEDO, its main function is to conduct financial literacy, and prepare the profile of the couples to be submitted to the ICC.
The PopDev on the other hand will coordinate with CCEDO to carry out financial literacy during the conduct of pre marriage counseling, and will provide data on couples attending said counseling to the CCEDO.
The ICC as the first partner for this DCE program shall give initial fixed deposit of P1,000.00 to qualified couples wanting to be part of the ICC as regular members, and the couples must add to the initial fixed deposit given by the ICC and attend the counseling session.
Manager Ronie Tagway is optimistic that the program will become successful in encouraging couples to be part of cooperatives judging by the number of couples who have signified their intention to become cooperative members.
