TABUK CITY, Kalinga – With the sudden increase of dengue cases in the city, Bulanao barangay headed by Cosme Gunnawa conducted a simultaneous clean-up drive to destroy breeding sites of dengue mosquitoes that spread the fatal dengue fever on June 3, 2022.
City health officials recorded a total of 159 dengue cases since January, with a notable increase rate during the onset of the rainy season.
Gunnawa together with school officials, purok leaders, Department of Health dengue coordinators, and City Health Office-Sanitation Division staff, launched the simultaneous clean-up in schools, households, and open spaces in Bulanao.
Tabuk residents are encouraged to clean their surroundings, destroy any visible mosquito breeding sites, and reduce their risk of mosquito exposure by taking all necessary precautions.
As part of Mayor Estrañero’s directive to intensify the anti-dengue drive, the city government has set plans to purchase additional misting machines and insecticides to ramp up the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases.
