LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Don Bosco Boys routed the Nazarene School, 100-67, to secure fifth place while the Sacred Heart downed Immaculate Conception of Taba-ao, Kapangan, 80-65, last July 6, 2017 at the San Jose Gym, here, to stay alive for a guaranteed tie for the eighth and final playoff berth of the inter-religious bracket of the fifth season of the Laity Cup.
The victory marks the sixth win against same number of losses the Bosco Boys to tie the Holy Knights, whom they beat earlier in the eliminations, 85-75. This means they will get the fifth seed while dropping the Knights to sixth.
Meanwhile, the Immaculate Conception’s defeat against Sacred Heart is their sixth, thus, sending them to a crucial match against the Latter Day Saints for the seventh seed.
Sacred Heart ensured that they will be involved in a triple- tie for eight place by their win. They will finish tied with McDonalds and the loser of the Immaculate Conception – Saints match.
The tie will be decided by FIBA tie-break rules.
On the other hand, the Assembly of God got their 11th win at the expense of San Jose, 103-75, to secure first place in the eliminations and the top seed in the playoffs.
Only the Caliking Atok Youth Group has a chance to catch them but Assembly’s earlier victory over them ensures superiority in the event of a tie.
