Bontoc, Mountain Province – Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on June 2, 2021, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
His first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine was administered by Dixi Jane Lingbanan, a nurse at the Bontoc Municipal Health Office (MHO).
Mayor Odsey in an interview remarked that he had himself vaccinated not only to protect himself but the people around him.
With this, Mayor Odsey is encouraging the public to get vaccinated once it is their turn.
The mayor, who already contracted COVID-19 twice, acknowledges the importance of the vaccine which is to prevent having serious illness brought by the virus.
“These vaccines have undergone clinical trials and have been approved by the World Health Organization to be administered to the public. If you are qualified and it is your turn to receive the COVID-19 vaccine shot, please go to our vaccination site,” he added.
It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) allowed the mayors to get vaccinated in consideration of their roles in the health pandemic response.
