BONTOC, Mountain Province – As the center of commerce, trade and education; crime activities in the capital town is still manageable.
This was reported by PMAJ Pedro Tactay, the Acting Chief of Police of Bontoc Municipal Police Station (MPS) during the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) meeting on June 15, 2022 held in Barangay Mainit, Bontoc.
From March 16-June 15, 2022, PMAJ Tactay related that their office recorded a total crime volume of 12. Of the total, one was Index Crime which is consummated new anti-car napping act.
The remaining 11 were Non-Index Crimes which included one case of malicious mischief; one violation of RA 9165 or possession of dangerous drugs; one consummated comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition; one violation of gun ban; two reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries; three reckless imprudence resulting to homicide; one case on Consummated Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition; and one consummated reckless imprudence resulting to physical injury.
In the implementation of the Municipal Ordinances, topping the list are violators of the Municipal Traffic Code with a total of 314 covering from January 1, 2022-June 9, 2022. Highest violation listed is the Prohibited Parking with 154 followed by Obstruction with 55. Other violations recorded are No Helmet-31, Wrong Mode of Parking- 27, Unattended Parking-24, No Driver’s License -11, No Franchise-5, and Load Limit-3. Also, one each was recorded under Disregarding Traffic Sign, Wearing Slippers, No Seat Belt, and Disregarding Traffic Enforcer. The citation tickets were all paid by the violators at the Office of the Municipal Treasurer. A total of P66, 600.00 was collected from said violations.
On illegal gambling, one slot machine “kulalong” was voluntary surrendered at the Bontoc MPS.
These accomplishments are credited to the continuous conduct of check points, Bakal Sita, Mobile and Foot Patrol of the police personnel in their area of jurisdictions.
