Body of retired miner found in Sabangan

SABANGAN, Mountain Province – The lifeless body of a 73-year old retired miner, who was earlier reported to have gone missing from their residence, was found by concerned residents near a creek just adjacent the Lagan Elementary School in Losad, Poblacion here recently.

Senior Superintendent Cornelio Comila, officer-in-charge of the Mountain Province Provincial Police Station, identified the victim as Francis L. Obonan, 73, retired Miner and a resident of Losad, Poblacion, Sabangan, Mountain Province.

The victim’s body was found lifeless with no signs of external injuries near a creek where he was believed to have drowned on the day he was reported missing.

According to the victim’s wife, he left her husband inside their residence and went to attend the regular Sunday services but when she went back home, she noticed that their house was locked and her husband was no longer inside.

Concerned neighbors joined the search for the victim until his lifeless body was discovered near a creek in the area.
