BAGUIO CITY – The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), one of the country’s top performing rural electric cooperatives recently lined up simple but meaningful activities to celebrate its 47th founding anniversary admits the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) health pandemic.
The month-long events started with a series of tree planting, weeding and beautification program that started last Friday for BENECO offices in coordination with the barangay and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The same activity will be replicated on October 23 while similar events will be conducted in different barangays from October 12-31, 2020.
From October 1-31, 2020, BENECO will be conducting the member-consumer-owners (MCO) prompt payors prize per collection center where tokens will be given for the first 200 consumers who will be paying their power bills in the different collection centers.
Further, there will also be a radio and facebook live MCO raffle that will be drawn during the Ronda BENECO radio program on Saturdays and facebook live.
On October 15-15, 2020, there will be a reecho in BENECO for the Lean Management for the Workplace during the Pandemic while there will be posting of signages of BENECO field maintenance offices anytime between October 6-23, 2020.
BENECO will continue to implement its proven Rolling Collection Center that will be conducted simultaneous with the schedule of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Liga ng mga Barangay Rolling Store schedules in the different barangays.
On October 9, 2020, BENECO will be recognizing its service awardees while on October 20, 2020, BENECO will be spearheading the Takbo-Botak COVID-19 fun run.
The 35-year service awardees are Celestino Caiso Alimondo and Nancy Tubal Willy while the 30year service awardees are BENECO general manager Engr. Melchor Songiaten Licoben, Power Generation Department manager Engr. Artemio Malicdan Bacoco, Salve Maria Carvajal and Teresita Banana Gundran.
Joel Cay Ed Esteban and Nelson Tanasa Icao are the 25-year service awardees while the 20-year service awardees are Satur Sad O Andres, Fraiser Palangeo Angayen, Lawrence Aoas Basil, Louis Crisostomo Caranto, Crischelle Aguitay Fernando, Benelita Santil Linmipao, Esteban Cambis Macay, Humphrey Baban Madayag, Welsie Mijares Mayor, Jr. and and Network Services Department Manager Engr. Ramil Bantowag Rifani.
The 15-year service awardees are Norman Colis Batanes and Faustino Dacayan Damian, Jr while the 10-year service awardees are Andrew Sao An Angluben, Institutional Services Department Manager Atty. Delmar Otinguey Cariño, Jason Bastan Kaniteng, Ronald Tanip Lictag, Christive Habbiling Malihod, Ellen Eral Rufino and Bonnie Bacani Soriano.
The lone 5-year service awardee is Josephus Biswilan Joanino.
BENECO is the franchise holder of the power distribution in Baguio City and Benguet by virtue of its franchise that was issued in 1978 although it was founded in 1973 purposely to implement the government’s rural electrification program.
