I love writing about the positive things happening in people’s lives and in quite a number of co-ops. I don’t want to write about the negative aspects. As anybody would experience, there will always be issues, problems and threats as a regular spice of life. But as wise sages would declare, these are thrown out in our paths as a means necessary to achieve some positive gains such as growth and success. We have our own imperfections to deal with. But these things are better discussed privately.
And failure would mean, lessons learned. It becomes another opportunity to begin again more intelligently. Unfortunately, some people would find it more exciting to focus on the failures and weaknesses of people rather than appreciating something praise worthy. Whenever I appreciate someone there are people who would contradict it and say, “but he is always absent”, “but she is always late” or “but he is inconsiderate”, something like that.
Although we cannot ignore the flaw in the lives of others, I do not dwell on the negative side of life. We all have our own skeletons in our respective closets. These are the sources of gossip and as we all know, gossips destroy relationships and alienate us from one another.
One of the things I always marvel at is the fact that co-ops can become enormously gigantic. I believe nobody could have foreseen that co-ops can become millionaires and even billionaires. It is really amazing how co-ops have grown. Even in the early years of the co-op movement, perhaps it is highly improbable for the founders to have imagined that co-ops can become enormously big. As per unofficial report, the number of billionaire co-ops have increased to a total of six just in the Cordillera region alone. Becoming a millionaire is quite a feat but becoming a billionaire is bordering on the miraculous.
As for me however, who is doing public service, I am ecstatic about this turn of events, at least in the co-op sector. It is very rewarding. I don’t mean to claim credit for this phenomenal growth of co-operatives, but there is joy in seeing them growing robustly.
I earlier stated that there will always be co-ops that goes south. There will always be problematic ones which are either caused by unwise decisions or personal selfish agenda but it doesn’t help improve the situation when we talk about them without intending to offer some assistance.
So I continue to be positive in life. I find it less stressful. It gives me the reason to face the day and go to work with hopeful anticipation of joy and happiness instead of fear or anger. At least I go to sleep with peace in my heart knowing that I did not put anybody down or stepped on their shoes.
