Apart from the mega vaccination sites and the mobile teams, the city has set up satellite inoculation areas to cater to sectors with clustering of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said sectoral targeted sites were put up at the city market to immunize vendors and at the Baguio City National High School for teachers and school personnel.
The said sectors had multiple positive cases in the past weeks and vaccination was expedited to prevent more infections, the mayor said.
He said this is necessary as the city is preparing to contend with possible case surges due to the spread of the Delta variant.
The city plans to do targeted immunization for other high risk industries like workers at the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) locators, business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, construction sites and others with case clusters.
The mayor said the city aims to expedite vaccination of all priority groups but due to the limited vaccine supply, it cannot be done immediately.
“We are balancing our way between a high demand for vaccines and a limited vaccine supply and there is also the need to control infections amid the threat of the more harmful variants. So please bear with us,” he said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
