BAUKO, Mountain Province – An anti-corruption advocate in the Cordillera and a barangay kagawad died after he was shot to death by two still unidentified gun-wielding persons who positioned themselves in strategic places outside his residence at sitio Gutang, Balintaugan, here, Wednesday night.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Salvador Liked, of legal age, single and an incumbent barangay kagawad of Balintaugan, an alleged rebel-infested barangay in the municipality.
Probers disclosed that the staunch anti-crime and corruption advocate who served as the Secretary-General of the cordillera chapter of the Citizens Crime Watch (CCW-CAR) was shot several times at close range outside his residence that caused his instantaneous death.

Police investigators claimed that around 8:55 pm, the victim came out from their residence to inspect his house that was under construction which was located 20 meters away from their common residence when someone from a still undisclosed direction shot him on the nape and different parts of his body.
Witnesses informed probers that after the shooting incident, they saw two still unidentified individuals who were running away from the crime scene and proceeded towards an undisclosed direction.
Recovered from the crime scene were several spent shells of a caliber .45 pistol that were used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
Liked had been exposing numerous alleged corruptions in the different local governments and concerned government agencies that caused the filing of graft charges against several local officials before the Office of the Ombudsman.
Probers are still ascertaining the motive of the brutal murder of the man that had been feared by corrupt officials in the different parts of Mountain Province and Benguet.
