LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – In response to the call of the Department of Education for all schools to support the developmental undertaking of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) on the 2017 Nutrition Month celebration with the theme, “Healthy diet, gawing habit-FOR LIFE,” the La Trinidad Alternative Learning System (ALS) held its district wide nutrition month culminating program on July 28 at La Trinidad Community Learning Center.
The message of the keynote speaker, Mr. Tito C. Bestre, ALS Education Program Supervisor, enthused all those who attended the occasion by emphasizing on the benefits of having a combination of the go-grow-glow food diet. Likewise, he cautioned the learners on the common vices that are very detrimental to health which the youth of today are hooked into.
Part of the event were contests on slogan, poster-making and cooking. The champs were; Jaqueline Musni for slogan, Samantha Balan for poster-making while in cook fest were Valentine Almazan and Rhelden Lupina. “My team didn’t make it in the cook fest but my group mates and I still feel victorious because we have given our best though our best was surpassed by the others,” said Zosimo Francisco. He added that winning is not the core, it’s the exposure and insights gained as he expressed his appreciation to the teachers in doing what are supposed to be done in flying the ALS learners like him close to their dreams.
The members of the panel of judges in the different contested activities include the ALS-EPS, Mr. Tito Bestre, Education Program Specialist, Mr. Rodriguez Belino and the Librarian Mr. Melvin Alfredo, all from the office of the Schools Division of Benguet. They commended the District ALS Coordinator, Mr. Mike Tamiray and the teachers for a job well done. “Continue providing opportunities for all the learners to unearth and cultivate their potentials and eventually arrive with the best version of themselves”, were Belino’s inspiring words to the ALS implementers.
