5 cheat death in Baguio landslide

BAGUIO CITY  – Five construction workers cheated death after a portion of their construction site reportedly caved in along Quisumbing St., Trancoville, here, Thursday.

Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, acting city director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the wounded construction workers as Jimmy Yumul Fernandez, 35, native of Bauang, La Union; Bobby Ulac, 49; Avelino Boac, 48; Daniel Estoler, 21; and Jerome Ulac, 23, all natives of Tubao, La Union, all stay-in at the said construction site were injured.

Initial police investigation showed the construction workers were busy digging a portion of their construction sites when the soil suddenly caved in causing the scuffoldings and steel bars to fall on them.

The victims were immediately rescued from the debris and were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment where they were subsequently given a clean bill of health by attending physicians
