KABUGAO, Apayao – The continuous efforts of the government to put an end to insurgency in the country during the preen administration gained a big boost in the province following the voluntary surrender of three members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) Barrio Militia ng Bayan operating in the locality recently.
Police Col. Peter Tagtag, Provincil Director of the Apayao provincial Police office, disclosed that the surrenderees: alyas “45”, alyas “Jepoy” and alyas “Noli” all residents of Kabugao, Apayao were combatants of KLG North Abra who had been actively participating in the operations of the communist movement against government forces over the past several months
The surrender of said CNT members was the result of negotiations and conduct of ELCAC related activities by Apayao PPO, RID, RIU14, RMFB15, SAF & AFP and also with the intercession of their family members.
Initial interview revealed that they were recruited on December 1, 2020 by a certain alyas “Kabram/Kapatas” of KLG North Abra and undergone training at Sitio Talifugu, Barangay Buneg, Lacub, Abra on same date until December 30, 2020.
The 3 alleged CNT member/ NPA in the Barrio were properly documented at Kabugao MPS awaiting the application for the government’s assistance and livelihood opportunities for the returnees under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
