BAGUIO CITY March 29 – The number of confirmed Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 cases in the Cordillera drastically increased to 16 following the arrival of confirmatory test results of previously pending samples that were earlier transmitted to the Manila-based Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).
Based on the latest advisory of the Cordillera Office of the health department, Baguio accounted for the most number of confirmed COVID cases with 12, including the first case that was able to recover from the deadly virus, followed by Aba and Benguet with 2 confirmed COVID cases each.
The confirmed COVID cases in Baguio include a 61-year old female from Italy, a 52-year old female from Metro Manila, a 23-year old male from Metro Manila, a 70-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year old female from Metro Manila, a 67-year male who had close contact with a positive COVID case, a 73-year old female from Metro Manila, a 49-year old male from Metro Manila, a 31-year old male from Metro Manila, a 52-year old male who was said to have local transmission of the virus and a 59-year male who had history of travel abroad.
Earlier, a 55-year old male that earlier tested positive for COVID and who is a member of one of the chambers of Congress already recovered from the contagious virus after testing negative for COVID in his final test with the RITM.
In Abra, the confirmed COVID cases include a 39year old male from the United Arab Emirates and a 49-yyear old male who had contact with a positive case but are all in stable condition while the confirmed cases in Benguet include a 34-year old female who came from abroad and a 6-year old female who came from the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon (CALABARZON) region.
