BALBALAN, Kalinga – Two persons were injured after they were allegedly hacked by two armed individuals at Poblacion here Friday morning.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office, identified the hacking victims as Raymart Balonggay Dulawon, 18, single, student and resident of Maling, Balbalan, Kalinga and Rowey Ngayaan y Baggas, 28, BFP personnel and a resident of Poblacion, Balbalan, Kalinga while he named the suspect as Butz Gunnawa, 26, single, farmer and Roberto Manadao, 48, single and both residents of Poblacion, Balbalan, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victims were supposed to rescue their two companions who were reportedly hacked by still unidentified assailants when they were suddenly blocked by the suspects who were armed with a bolo and ax.
At this juncture, Ngayaan was able to disarm Gunnawa by Manadao struck Dulawen with an ax hitting him on his left foot which was followed by a commotion until cooler heads were able to prevail upon them.
The wounded individuals were brought to the Western Kalinga District Hospital for medical treatment while the suspects were arrested by responding police operatives and are set to be charged with serious physical injuries before the Kalinga provincial prosecutor’s office.
