TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A 13-year old boy was injured after he was reportedly shot by a still unidentified male suspect while they were gathering mango fruits along Silaw St. Purok 4, Bulanao, here, Thursday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, refused to divulge the identity of the victim because he was a minor but said that he was confined at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital due to a lone gunshot wound on his knee.
Initial police investigation showed the victim, together with his brother and several other companions were gathering mango fruits in the place of incident when his brother saw an old man come out from a nearby house and boarded a white pickup.
While inside the vehicle, the suspect reportedly drew a short firearm, pointed the gun to their direction and allegedly pulled the trigger hitting the victim on his knee.
The suspect immediately sped off from the crime scene while the victim was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered a slightly deformed slug of a still undisclosed firearm from the crime scene.
