LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 20-year old man died while his live in partner was injured after they were repeatedly shot by still unidentified assailants along Palangsia St., Pico here Friday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Gerald Jonard Nidoy, 20 while he named the wounded individual as Virginia Dinicio Sofla, the victim’s live in partner.
Initial police investigation showed the duo were walking along the said road when they were repeatedly shot by still unidentified male suspects that inflicted injuries on the different parts of their bodies.
The said individuals were rushed to the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH) for medical treatment but Jonard was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple gunshot wounds on his head and body while Virginia was undergoing close medical supervision.
Responding police operatives and elements of the scene of the crime operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene five spents shells and a fired slug of a caliber .45 pistol which was used by the suspects in the perpetration of the crime.
The suspects are now the subject of a manhunt operation while the motive of the shooting incident has yet to be ascertained pending the outcome of a follow-up operation for the arrest of the suspects.
