BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan urged residents in the city’s 128 barangays to be vigilant on the alleged presence of willing drug personalities in their neighborhood following the series of successful drug buy bust operations conducted by anti-narcotics and police operatives that resulted to the arrest of individuals involved in the lucrative drug trade.
The local chief executive said that the success of the government’s anti-drug campaign lies on the support of the citizens who need to report to the concerned authorities the presence of individuals involved in the drug trade who are living in different parts of the city so that they will be apprehended or neutralized.
“We urge our people to help concerned authorities in the successful implementation of the aggressive anti-drug campaign by providing our authorities with the vital information that will lead to the arrest of emerging drug personalities operating in our midst. Let us not allow the drug trade to affect our daily lives by making sure that our areas are free from the haven of drug suspects,” Domogan stressed.
He expressed disappointment over the continuous presence of drug suspects who are being arrested by law enforcers and anti-narcotics operatives in their previous drug buy bust operations which continues to indicate the presence of emerging drug personalities operating in the different barangays of the city.
According to him, residents who notice the presence of new and suspicious-looking individuals in their neighborhood to immediately seek the assistance of barangay officials and law enforcers for them to institute the appropriate measures to already curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.
He contended that it is the individual and collective efforts of residents of the city that will play a key role in helping the government succeed in the unrelenting and uncompromising anti-drug operations that is why it is best for everyone to be vigilant on what is happening in their neighborhood to sound the alarm bottom for drug suspects not to thrive in their places.
Since the implementation of the government’s anti-drug operations at the start of the administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, close to 2,400 individuals from the different barangays of the city voluntarily surrendered to the concerned authorities and were able to undergo the required community-based drug rehabilitation that allowed them to be able to go back to the folds of mainstream society.
He appealed to residents not to patronize the illegal activities of emerging drug personalities in the city so that they will not continue to ply their lucrative trade in the city to help achieve the main goal of the government of ensuring the zero presence of drug suspects in the city that will contribute in efforts of curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city.
He underscored the fact that the successful implementation of the government’s anti-drug campaign resulted to the significant reduction in the crimes being committed in the different parts of the city over the past two years which caused the emergence of a decent peace and order situation allowing the city to be chosen as one of the top ten safest cities in the southeast Asin region.
He asserted there should be no let-up in the government’s anti-drug campaign if people to put a total stop on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country, thus, public operation is being desired for the success of peace and order initiatives that will translate to better economic growth and development.
