TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang urged concerned government agencies to fastrack the on-going investigation to the alleged death of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Balbalan who mysteriously died in her workplace in Saudi Arabia.
The lawmaker identified the slain OFW as Imelda Gannaban, who hails from Balbalan, and is reportedly working in the foreign land as an OFW.
“We have to conduct an in-depth investigation on the death of my townmate who went to Saudi to simply earn a living for her family. We should be provided with concrete investigation results and for concerned agencies to fastrack the repatriation of her remains for her to be given a decent wake and burial in her hometown,” Mangaoang stressed.
He added that appropriate coordination is being done with the victim’s relatives and concerned government agencies to ascertain the motive on the victim’s sudden death so that the government will be constrained to pursue the case against the perpetrators of the crime who are reportedly foreigners.
Mangaoang claimed there are sketchy reports that reached his office that the OFW’s death could have been a product of various instances that forced her to be pinned against the wall, thus, the need for the conduct of an in-depth investigation on the matter to clear the issues relative to her untimely death.
Relatives of the victim sought the assistance of his office to facilitate the immediate conduct of the required investigation on her death and for the government to pursue the perpetrators of the crime and for the immediate repatriation of her remains to the country the soonest so that they will be able to pay their last respect to her.
