BAGUIO CITY – Residents and various sectors in the city’s barangays urged politicians aspiring for the different local elected positions in the May 2019 mid-term elections not to intrude in their scheduled gatherings, especially when they are not invited, to avoid the undue delay in the conduct of their meetings and disrupt the smooth flow of their programs.
Sources, who requested anonymity for obvious reasons, claimed that after the aspiring city officials filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) last October, most of them had been allegedly intruding in the gatherings of clans, associations and other private organizations, even if they were not invited which have resulted to misunderstandings between the officers and those who invited the politicians without proper coordination with the groups conducting their regular activities.
“We are wondering why most of our politicians now intrude into our gatherings. If politicians want to be respected, they must respect the decision of groups not to invite them in their gatherings because they do not want their activities being used for political purposes,” the source stressed.
The source asserted it is improper, unethical and unprofessional for aspiring politicians to simply arrive in the venue where gatherings of groups are being done even without an invitation or proper coordination with the groups, and demand to be recognized resulting to the unjust disruption of the smooth flow of the program and the unnecessary adjustments that affect the schedule in the serving food to the already hungry audience.
According to them, politicians should be ashamed that it is the members and officers of the groups whom they intrude who accommodate them instead of them being the ones to adjust to the situation and this improper behaviour reflects their attitude when they will be elected into office.
The source pointed out it is the politicians that are being put in a bad light once they intrude in affairs of groups considering that their audience will be lukewarm to them since they know that they were not actually invited and that they have preferred personalities who were invited to grace their special occasions.
The sources challenged the politicians to have the delicadeza by not intruding in the affairs of various groups in the city’s barangays if they do not wan to be criticized for their failure to observe the proper decorum when gracing such occasions as this is not good for their political career.
The source explained to the politicians that if they are not invited to attend a gathering, it means that the members and officers do not actually like their presence because they have a preferred individual whom they want to grace their activities and that the same is an indirect message to them not to be present in their activities so as not spoil their momentum in conducting their official business.
The sources are wondering why politicians only make their presence felt when elections are near when they have more time to do the same when it is not election season.
