PINUKPUK, Kalinga – Mayor Irving B. Dasayon underscored the importance of the prevalence of peace and order as the backbone of growth and development in the municipality.
The local chief executive prioritized the reconvening of the municipal peace and order council (MPOC) to be the local government’s partner in the formulation of peace and order strategies that will be implemented to sustain lasting peace for the benefit of the present and future generation of residents living in the different barangays.
“There is no progress if there is no peace in our municipality,” Dasayon stressed in one of the meetings of the MPOC in the town.
The MPOC is composed of all the 23 punong barangays of the municipality, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the heads of line agencies based on the municipality, the members of the municipal council, the department heads of the local government, representatives from non-government organizations and peoples organizations, civil society organizations.
Dasayon called on the concerned sectors to continue working together in ensuring the stability of peace and order in the municipality so that investors will be attracted to invest in the municipality that will contribute in generating jobs, increasing economic activities and providing a sustainable source of livelihood for the people living in the different barangays.
According to him, the prevalence of relative peace in the municipality allows the local government to concentrate in the implementation of its various programs and projects geared towards uplifting the socio-economic condition of the people aside from enhancing the implementation of infrastructure projects that will enhance inter-connectivity for the benefit of development that will benefit the people in the remote villages.
He added peace and order is the foundation of overall development that will contribute in improving the quality of life for the people and the status of the municipality as one of the progressive local government in the province.
Dasayon commended the police and military for their steadfast action in preventing the occurrence of untoward incidents that compromise the good peace and order climate in the municipality over the past several months.
Mayor Dasayon appealed to residents and visitors alike to embrace peace as their primordial advocacy for the local government to be able to achieve its desired status in terms of development in the future, especially that the national government is heavily investing on the development of remote communities through improved state of infrastructure that will provide a link between the rural and urban areas around the country.
