Baguio City – The bikers are back to compete while traversing the inclined terrains of this city via the historic zigzag roads of Kennon.
Renderfarm Sports and Karerang Pinoy will hold its first event team up, dubbed Lion King of the Mountain Bike Challenge 2019, on May 18, 2019. The race will start in Urdaneta, Pangasinan and will finish at Lake Drive, Burnham Park in Baguio.
Renderfarm Sports’ Philip Pacle, the race director, said the race will determine which cyclist would be the real Lion King of the Mountain when the participants endure the tough terrain of Baguio roads. “The 65 km one day event will be a challenging one as the pedal pushers will traverse the uphill, downhill winding road of Kennon Road.”, he continued
Karerang Pinoy, headed by Armando Buatista former ICFP Secretary General will be in charge of the technicality of the race. Bautista said big names in cycling clubs are expected to join the race. “Big names, notably the National Team and famous groups all over the country, will attend.”, he said.
The race will feature seven categories, namely Youth, Open,Masters, MTB, Manager’s, Women and Fun Bikers. It will start at 5:30 am in the Old City Hall of Urdaneta City. There will be a free rolling of about 30 kilometers of flat road. Upon reaching Rosario and Kennon Road Junction, cyclist belonging to particular category will be released every 5 minutes after.
Both city governments of Urdaneta and Baguio are endorsing the event.
Interested participants will be charged registration fee of Php850 which includes Race Bib, Finisher’s Tshirt and Certificate. Winners in each category are to be given an award.
Registration and payment maybe made through bank deposit. The registration fee maybe deposited BPI Accn# 9690007557. Once deposited, the participane shall email deposit slip to renderfarmsports@gmail.com with his/her full name, birthday, address, contact and category entered. If registering as a group, details of each participant shall be indicated. A confirmation email will be sent to to the participant within 48 hours.
Race Kit will be distributed at Urdaneta Old City Hall beginning Friday, May 17 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 am on race day.
