Loo, Buguias—Members of the Japan Karate Association (JKA), Baguio Chapter grabbed most of the medals in the all JKA friendly elimination tournament held at Loo National High School recently.
It was the first time in the history of Buguias that JKA enthusiasts from Baguio City, La Trinidad joined with Buguias martial arts players to perform in the agricultural barangay of Loo, coinciding with the merry and economic festival of Loo.
Buguias mayor Ruben Tindaan coordinated the JKA event.
JKA Baguio Chapter, based at Baguio’s Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), grabbed 22 medals, of which eleven were golds, two silvers and nine bronze.
John Russel Angway, Khyzer Hanz Kapawen, Ezekiel Alexander Paul Sevidal, Redd Pinkihan, Cedric Vaughn Malia, Khurt Jesse Lacsigen and Azhiel Job Angayon won golds in kata or form.
Angelo Querido, Khyzer Hans Kapawen, Ithuriel John Sevidal and Ashcroft Thadani won golds in kumite or sparring.
Ithuriel John Sevidal and Ibarro Leo were the ones who brought home silver medals.
Those who won bronze medals were Angelo Querido, for kata; London Alexander Sevidal, for kata; Ezekiel Alexander Paul Sevidal for kumite; Ashcroft Thadani for kata; Redd Pinkihan for kumite; Xian Bengwayan for both kata and kumite; Cedric Vaugn Malia for kumite and, Khurt Jesse Lacsigen for kumite.
