LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Incumbent Boardmember Nestor Fongwan, Jr. was overwhelmingly re-elected by municipal councilors as the president of the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) Benguet chapter for the term 2019-2022 Fongwan, who is the incumbent PCL-Benguet president and a reelected municipal councillor of La Trinidad, bested Tuba Councilor Rebecca Apil and Tublay Councilor William Esteban in his reelection bid during the elections held Friday morning.
“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the members of the PCL-Benguet chapter for giving me a fresh mandate to lead our organization. We hope that we will all continue to work together for the welfare of our constituents. Let us leave behind our differences and start a harmonious working relationship beneficial to the general welfare of our constituents,” Boardmember Fongwan stressed.
The La Trinidad councilor asserted that he will pursue the needed innovations to the existing programs, projects and activities of their organization so that its members will benefit aside from pursuing other programs that will help in uplifting the living condition of their constituents.
According to him, it is important to constantly engage with the members of the organization so that whatever recommendations and suggestions that will come from the members will be properly discussed and passed upon by the officers in the spirit of transparency to help strengthen their bond as local legislators coming from the province.
The newly-elected officers of the PCL-Benguet chapter are Tublay Councilor Cruso M. Daguioa, Jr., Kabayan Councilor Ghislyn F. Lucio-Marave- Secretary-General, Kapangan Councilor Bruno Canuto – treasurer, Kabayan Councilor Marlon Nginsayan – auditor, Itogon Councilor Liza Depayso – Public Relations Officers and Tuba Councilor Arnulfo Milo – business manager.
The members of the Board of Directors are Buguias Councilor Ronald Kimakim, Kapangan Councilor Harris M. Dizon, Mankayan Councilor Julio Joey C. Culliao, Tublay Councilor Soriano M. Mendoza, Kabayan Councilor Dan P. Guinsiman, Atok Councilor Franklin Smith, Bakun Councilor Mark Bayawa, Sablan Councilor Romulo Polon, Kibungan Councilor Marcos Olayo and Bokod Councilor Johnny M. Sama.
Under the provisions of the Local government code, city and municipal mayors provincial governors, city and municipal vice mayors and city and municipal councilors are mandated to elect their city, municipal and provincial chapter officers prior to the election of their national officers.
Benguet Representative Nestor B. Fongwan, Sr. administered the oath of office of the newly elected PCL-Benguet chapter officers in his residence at Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
