SADANGA, MT. PROVINCE – Igorot MMA fighter Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, emphasized discipline and execution in inspiring his townmates during the Fvegnash Festival cultural presentation at Poblacion, here, last June 25, 2017.
In his keynote speech, he spoke to them to imbibe these two martial arts attributes that he hopes all people live by; and for the coming generation, the bearers of culture and tradition, to not only dream but work for they what dream of. He emphasized that whatever they wish in life, they can achieve it as long as they work hard for it.
“We need discipline in our lives, in what we do, to attain our objectives,” the champ said, citing the example of Singapore statesman, Lee Kwan Yew, who promoted discipline as a necessity for a country to progress.
The legendary Team Lakay mainstay has amassed an impressive 17-5 MMA career record, authoring a resurgence in 2016 by winning three consecutive matches against high-profile opponents and showcasing a highly-improved wrestling and grappling offensive arsenal.
Folayang shocked the world by capturing the ONE Lightweight World Championship belt with a sensational victory over Japanese legend Shinya Aoki last November and successfully defended it with a grueling unanimous decision victory over Ev Ting last April.
Undefeated MMA Flyweight warrior, Danny “The King” Kingad, who is scheduled for ONE Flyweight World Championship fight against Hexi Getu of China this July, made an appearance as well.
He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the organizers of Fvegnash and the people of Sadanga for extending their invitation to them and Team Lakay as well.
“Their presence during this occasion is enough for us to be inspired,” quipped a spectator in the audience. By: Alfred Macalling & Roger Sacyaten
