BOKOD, Benguet – A 54-year old fisherman died after she allegedly drowned in the reservoir of the Ambuclao dam at Ambuclao, here, Tuesday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Roberto Smith Lachica, 54, married, fisherman, and a resident of Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim informed his younger brother that he will be proceeding to Nawal, Bokod to attend the burial of their relative in the said place, before the latter left him to proceed home.
After an hour, his younger brother went back to the reserviour and to his surprise, he only saw the wooden boat where the victim was on board which prompted him to seek assistance to locate his whereabouts.
Rescuers tried to search for the victim under water but their efforts were in vain and on October 4, 2017, the search and rescue operations continue and they were able to retrieve the lifeless body of the victim.
His body was immediately brought home by his relatives for him to be given the necessary wake and burial.
