“Thank you very much for accommodating our learners for the on-site work immersion. Because of this, our learners have now an understanding of the real work environment giving them first-hand experience in the workplace. Words may not be enough but we would like to thank you again and again for this a very big opportunity you gave to them,” Norie Padngaran, the school’s SHS coordinator said.
Work immersion, as the key feature of the SHS Curriculum as stated in the DepEd Order 30, 2017, aims to enable students to become familiar with the workplace, experience workplace simulation and apply their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in authentic work environment.
DepEd moreover hopes that partner institutions will provide learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on experience, and additional learning resources through partnership building.
The guidelines further provide the maximum number of hours spent in the work immersion venue is 40 hours per week and no more than eight hours per day as provided by law. And, as provided in the curriculum guide or course syllabus, the WIP accounts for a minimum of 80 hours.
