True to its name and bounden mission “to uplift the socio-economic status of the general membership by providing quality service through efficient, dedicated, committed and responsible officers, staff and members,” the DOERS-MPC (Drivers, Operators, Employees, Residents and other Sectors-Multipurpose Cooperative) is making its presence in this municipality felt and is turning to be a reliable partner of this local government unit for progress and development.
From a humble beginning of being just an association of jeepney operators and drivers from Acop, Tublay and Shilan, La Trinidad as the association’s name indicates (ASJODA: Acop-Shilan Operators and Drivers Association), organized in 1984 with 21 initial members-incorporators and converted into multipurpose cooperative in 1999, this became DOERS-MPC in 2007 as confirmed by a certificate of registration of amendments of its articles of cooperation, registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) under Registration Certificate No. 9520-15000072 on December 11, 2001.
These days, the DOERS-MPC continues to expand service operations and its members increases month after month, boosting of 996 members as of July 2018 and operating with current and non-current assets amounting to P62,737,076.29, with the officers and members guided by the cooperative’s core values tailored after its acronym name: D-Dedication, O-Openness, E-Efficient and Excellent, R-Respectful and Respectable and S-Self-reliance, in order to further realize the target expansion of the cooperative.
Though the DOERS-MPC is still classified as medium scale cooperative, it owns several movable and immovable properties which include a lot and 3-storey building being utilized as the cooperative’s office, a 200 square meters lot at Shilan proposed for fuel refilling station, one unit 16KL fuel tanker and one unit L300 delivery and/or service vehicle.
The cooperative’s services operation is inclusive, as it includes fuel refilling station with two service operations at Tili, Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet and Km. 20 Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet; lending and savings services; auto and tire supplies; consumer goods which includes groceries, rice and LPG; money remittances (western union: domestic and international); true money coverage embracing remittances in and out of the country; phone loading for red mobile, ABS-CBN and gaming; bills payment for Home Credit, Sky Cable, BPI Credit Card, Asia United Bank, Metro Bank, LAZADA Ph, BENECO, Asialink, Cocolife, Dragon Loan and Global Dominion; government bills for NBI Clearance, NSO Certificates, PAG-IBIG Housing Loan and monthly contributions, PRC fees or charges payment.
It also offers unified product services such as bills payment for Signal, Globe, Skycable, Smart, Sun, PLDT and SSS; remittances for E-cash pay, Globe G-cash, Smart Padala, Transfast, I-remit, Cebuana Lhuiller, Money Gram; Insurance Premium Payments for Sunlife Financial, Manulife, PhilAm Life, AXA, Prulife, Fortune Life and PNB Life; plane ticketing for domestic and international flights for PAL, Cebu Pacific, 2Go Travel, Air Asia, Zest Air, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airline, Turkish Airline, Eva Air, Thai Air, Air New Zealand and Japan Airline; payments for hotel bookings; and payment travels and tours fees or charges.
Every member, with special proviso whether or not the concerned member is in good standing, is entitled to certain benefits which include interest of share capital, patronage refund, mortuary aid, and discounted interest rate on loans. The interest of share capital and patronage refund, usually released annually, may be converted by any interested member as additional share capital, provided the total share capital of such member will not exceed 10% of cooperative’s share capital.
To become a member, any individual may apply and fill up a membership form and pay the membership fee amounting to P300.00. Thereafter, any incoming member will have to undergo the Pre-membership Seminar scheduled every 4th Saturday of the month, and pay the minimum share amounting to P8,000.00, which may be paid by installments within three months upon payment of the initial amount of P4,000.00. For the mortuary fund, any incoming member is required to pay P500.00 once, to entitle qualified deceased member’s heir/s with mortuary aid the amount of which corresponds to the length of years such deceased member had been a member of the cooperative.
The DOERS-MPC is not also remised with its cooperative social responsibilities as it offers scholarship, sponsors livelihood trainings and conducts community development programs.
