BAGUIO CITY – Business owners including those in the special economic zones are encouraged through city council resolution 335, 2018, to employ manpower from areas ravaged by Typhoons Ompong.
As known, the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) areas are among those that suffered from the onslaught of typhoon “Ompong,” (and recently, “Rosita”) where in landslides due to torrential rains displaced workers and residents.
As stated in the resolution, donations from benevolent individuals and civic associations to affected groups are not endless. A partnership between the local government and business establishments to employ BLISTT residents from typhoon ravaged areas would “open doors of opportunity” and “encourage victims and their families to start a new life.”
The resolution also acknowledged that different corporations, partnerships and domestic and foreign business establishments operating in the city conduct corporate social responsibility, including during the past calamities.
