FLORA, Apayao May 20 – A department head of the municipal government died after she was allegedly shot to death by still unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men along Camia St., Poblacion East, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Catherine B. Ortega, human resource management officer (HRMO) of the municipal government.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was on the side of the road when a motorcycle passed by and one of the occupants allegedly fired at her several times that hit her on the different parts of her body until she was sprawled bloodied on the ground.
The victim was rushed by concerned citizens to the Flora district hospital for immediate medical attention but she was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to alleged multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of her body.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene multiple spent shells of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
Probers are still ascertaining the motive behind the department head’s brutal murder as manhunt operations are underway for the arrest of the suspects who reportedly towards an unknown direction on board their getaway motorcycle.
