LUNA, Apayao—Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. revealed his strong desire to host again, for the second time, the Cordillera Administrative Regional Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet by 2019.
Bulut disclosed this intention before the jam-packed crowd at BGV Memorial Sports Center here during the 2017 Provincial Athletic Meet to challenge all the players, coaches and parents including Apayao’s Department of Education Family.
“I already talked to Mr. Ronald Castillo for the possible hosting of CARAA Meet in 2019. Ituloy tayo diay naputed wenno nadiskaril nga plano tayo idi (Let’s continue our previous plan),” he said.
He reminded the DepEd family to take seriously every sports competition sets before them considering the benefits sports might bring to youngsters. “Kasano tayo nga mangabak ti kumpetition no haan tayo nga seryoso. We need to be serious in everything that we do. Kayat ko koma met a nga ag-champion tayo,” he stressed.
Bulut guaranteed the institutionalization of sports program in Apayao as long as he is the governor and it will be done before bowing out as governor of Apayao. He avowed the funding of municipal and Provincial Government in sports activities in the province which is in line also with the recent enactment of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan with regard to the prizes of winners in the regional, national and international competitions. “I will make sure, all the sports programs of Apayao will be institutionalized,” he assured the public.
“The provincial government is planning again, back to zero, to institutionalize the sports program in the Province of Apayao. With the support of the municipal mayors, agaramid tayo ti programa ti sports development ti Probinsiya ti Apayao nga maikkan to ti regular fund ti kada munisipyo especially iti Provincial Government,” Bulut added.
Bulut wanted to focus more on sports for the future of the young kids. As an example, he took Tacula, a woman basketball player from Kabugao who shined in the CARAA Meet and Palarong Pambansa who is now a star player of the University of the East in motivating the players, coaches, parents and visitors present during the provincial meet. He said through sports, Tacula who was then a very shy and aloof girl has exhibited her skills in court proudly bannering the Province of Apayao in Manila.
