LINGAYEN, Pangasinan October 04 – The online live-streaming of the Governor’s Cup Inter-Town/City basketball tournament season 2 is expected to add excitement to the games with faster and quicker teams raring to show their skills and teamwork.
This was disclosed by Samahan ng Basketball ng Pilipinas (SBP-Region 1) Regional Director Edilberto Abalos during the provincial cagefest preparatory meeting held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium on September 29.
Data shows that the phenomenal Facebook online livestreaming record for the 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-Town/City basketball tournament especially during the best-of- three championship series that garnered a total of 1.2 million views and a whopping 4.2 million post reach during the finals alone making the cagefest to go viral not only in the province but also abroad.
“Maraming sumubaybay at sumusubaybay sa mga basketball tournaments na dinadaos sa probinsya, maging sa mga laro ng Pangasinan Basketball Team na nakipagtagisan ng galing sa mga nakaraang laro laban sa University of Luzon, Lyceum Northwestern University, University of Cordilleras at ng Angeles University Foundation sa Facebook”, said Pangasinan Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Officer Modesto Operania.
Showcasing the elite players comprising the Pangasinan Basketball Team drafted from the different teams of the successful four-month tilt of the 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-Town/City basketball tournament, Operania said the much awaited season 2 cagefest will surely be packed anew with exciting plays for this season’s participating municipality teams.
The season 2 provincial cagefest which is set to open on November 11 will feature the home-and-away format highlighting 14 of the finest players ages 18-24 years old born December 31, 1999 to January 1, 1993 from each participating town, and city in the province.
Abalos and Operania both lauded the participants, sports coordinators, and coaches for their overwhelming support to Governor Amado I. Espino, III’s major sports project which aims to instill in the minds of the youth the importance of discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship.
They added that the home-and-away hardcourt format will give the players and other participants the opportunity to travel, revel and experience the beauty of each host municipality which will also help boost tourism in the province as suggested by Governor Espino.
Operania said the Provincial Government’s efforts in sports development will make Pangasinan as a sports tourism destination.
