KABAYAN, Benguet – Some one hundred eighty running enthusiasts in the different parts of the municipality joined the Run for a Cause that kicked off the celebration of the town’s 116th founding anniversary last Monday, November 28, 2016, here.
The event, which opened the town’s founding anniversary, was initiated by the officers and personnel of the Kabayan Municipal Police Station headed by Senior Inspector Joyce Ann Dayag.
The theme of the running event “Isa, Dalawa, Takbo Laban sa ILLEGAL na Droga” is in full support to the marching order of President, Rodrigo R. Duterte to rid-out illegal drugs in the entire Philippines.
Aside from awarding the first, second, third and fourth who completed the run, special awards were given to two years old Aliyah Faith Alumit and Engr. Eugene Daoal, 58 (MLGU personnel) as the youngest and oldest participant respectively as well as to Mr. and Mrs Lester Albon and family as complete family participants. Also, a “ZUMBA” dance was followed after the run to promote a healthy lifestyle in full orientation of the community in the PNP’s all-out war on anti-illegal drugs.
The event was also supported by the municipal government led by Mayor Gideon Todiano and other municipal and barangay officials who mobilized their constituents to be part of the opening activity.
Dayag expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed their time, effort and resources for the successful staging of the event that will serve as a benchmark for the conduct of similar running events in the future.
