BAGUIO CITY – A man died while his two companions were injured after the former was pinned by an elf truck on a road inside the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Jonie Zizon of San Manuel, Pangasinan while his injured companions were named as Alexander Agustin Alberto, 21, single and Saldy Delos Santos Alberto, 26, both are construction workers, and a resident at the EP Barracks located at PMA Compound, Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation disclosed that the trio were on board en elf truck driven by a certain Sherwin Sumangen Alipio, 30, and a resident at Liteng, Pacdal, Baguio City when the victim alighted from the vehicle to remove a boulder that blocked the path of the truck that was on the middle of the road.
However, the elf truck started moving slowly until it sped while moving along the road that pinned the victim on the shoulder of the road while his colleagues were also pinned while trying to extricate the victim from the vehicle.
The victim allegedly died on the spot while his two companions were rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment for the injuries that they sustained from the occurrence of the untoward incident.
Probers are still ascertaining the reason why the elf truck moved slowly while it was on a full stop when the victim alighted from the vehicle to remove the boulder that obstructed its path.
The employer of the victim assured his family that he will shoulder his expenses from his wake up to his burial.
